Ushuaia - Patagonia Argentina

USHUAIA

Location:

Ushuaia is the southernmost city in the world. It has a particular charm, being as it is, a typical village from the Argentine Patagonia, with a unique picturesque architecture. Ushuaia is located on Isla Grande in Tierra del Fuego, right by the Beagle Canal and surrounded by the last traces of the Andes Mountains.

Tourist Attractions:
The beautiful landscapes found in the Tierra del Fuego National Park, or the Valleys all the way to Lake Fagnano and Lake Escondido are the main attraction of this area. Going up the mountains at Paso Garibaldi we can enjoy one of the best views, looking down to Lake Escondido and, beyond that, to Lake Fagnano, the largest one on the island. Other attractions are the Beagle Canal, with different navigation options; Isla de los Lobos; numerous bird species; the Lighthouse; the Penguin Reserve; and Harberton Ranch. It is also the departing point for cruises travelling south to Punta Arenas, such as Mare or Via Australis, or for those going beyond that, to Antartica.
Highlights:
Tierra del Fuego National Park: A visit to this Park, which is located a few miles from Ushuaia, offers several options, like trekking from Bahia Ensenada to Lake Roca, canoeing down the river Lapataia, or taking a short trip on the Train of the End of the World, which reconstructs the route taken by prisoners who did forced labor in the area decades ago. Arriving at Lapataia Bay, just where National Highway 3 ends, means arriving at the last point in the continent, and there we can take pictures of the signs indicating the distance to Buenos Aires and to Alaska.
