Fitz Roy Mountain:
this mountain is 11,000 feet high and sits in the border between
Argentina and Chile. The first climbers to reach the top were
French, Lionnel Terray and Guido Magnone, members of a local
expedition. Although it is not a very high mountain, compared
to the Himalaya giants, it has a reputation of "extreme
difficulty" because it requires technical expertise in
climbing to overcome vertical, smooth and slippery slabs.
There are only one or two successful climbs per year, by either
one of two routes: the "argentine" or the "french".
